Red Lodge, MT Engagement Session | Billings, MT Photographer | Brianna Joy Photography
On a day that was shaping up to be one of the hottest of the year, I was heading to Red Lodge and Custer National Forest. I was worried about how hot it was going to be to start our session. The beginning of a photo session is always a little awkward, you’re still getting to know each other, it feels weird to be in front of the camera, and to add sweltering heat just doesn’t make it more fun. But the closer I got to Red Lodge, the more I got to watch my thermostat drop. I left Billings when it was 98, by the time we began our session it was 85!! Add some shade to that and it was pleasant almost the whole time we were on our session!! What a great start.
Now, add Taylor and Matt to the equation and we have absolute perfection! These two are some of the kindest and down to earth people I have ever met and they are an excellent match together! They met on an app and it’s history from there! And these pictures can share part of why!! They are SO CUTE!!
I don’t really know the magic behind it, but almost every single time a couple or person tells me that they are going to be awkward in front of the camera, they AREN’T! It’s amazing, and you will be able to see for yourself! But first, I am going to tell you a little bit more about how awesome these two really are!
Taylor and Matt are truly my kind of people! They are going to be getting married next year in Yellowstone National Park! They enjoy being outdoors and going hiking and just enjoy doing active things together! When Matt proposed to Taylor, they went on a hike to a waterfall early in the season so that the waterfall would be rushing behind them when he asked her.
Also, during their engagement session, they were so willing to go on adventures with me. We hiked all the way around a lake, then we went off the beaten path, into the woods and got close to the river. By that time they were incredibly warmed up in front of the camera and Matt yelled out to me, “We’re even willing to go rock jumping if you want us to?” Umm, hello! That was music to my ears, so we found an epic boulder in the middle of the river and got some epic portraits of them there! (you can see some of these shots below!)
I am so honored that I got to meet and hang out with these two amazing people and so blessed that I get to serve them on one of the most special day of their lives together! This session was only the beginning and I hope that we truly become friends through this whole wedding process for them!
Matt and Taylor, you are both such a joy to be around and I am so blessed to be your photographer and honored to get to know you further! I wish you all the best and I can’t wait to keep on celebrating with you!
Enjoy this beautiful couple and join me in congratulating them on their engagement!!
Cheers!!
